The Pet Project Revealed

20 Aug
2008

Two weeks ago I mentioned that I was working on a pet project for my wife. She had been wanting to open up her own Cafe Press shop because she loved designing things. In fact, some of the things she requested others to make were some of the best selling items in their shop. She figured if that’s the case, why not do it for herself. She did and I helped her.

When we got started I told her to pick out colors, images and so forth that she likes and that I would make her page from scratch. She picked out about 60 different things and I picked only 3 things out of them. The result… well, you’ll find out in just a moment. But yeah, the design was completed in a couple of days in my spare time. It’s original, unique and very girly. I never knew I had it in me, lol.

Meanwhile, in the past 2 weeks she’s been designing every single day. Her shop now has over 250 designs in various colors and sizes. Most of the ideas were hers, some were mine and I merely tweaked a few. I must say, it’s looking pretty good.

She just opened up her shop and she’s already getting buyers! And they’re not family! LOL. Wanna see? CLICK HERE! I will be helping her promote the shop and see what we can do with it.

I will keep you posted on the progress and if things turn out well, I’ll probably do a tutorial on how to start one from start to profit. In the mean time, check out her designs and buy something, lol.

    Hi Ashley,

I love your designs. Excellent niche.

Good luck with it, and don’t forget eBay.

    Regards,

    What’s a “Focker?”

That’s awesome cool! Not just the CafePress shop; I had wanted to put together something like that back when I thought I could get the WordPress plugin to work; but I mean the email telling us about it, the link to your blog here describing it further, and finally the link to the shop itself.

I’m definitely inspired now to follow your example. Thanks for that. and thank Ashley for putting you up to it! 😉

    So, uh… what’s a “Focker?”

Hey Helene, Ashley said thanks. She’s gonna stay out of eBay for now. We’ll see later.

Mitch, “Focker” was just a nickname for someone else. It was a custom ordered shirt. It went along with the shirt called “Hooker.” It’s weird, I don’t even wanna know, lol.

I’m glad you like the approach and inspired. Let me know if you need any help… and of course, if I have time, I certainly will. Ttyl.
