My Wedding Anniversary

17 Oct
2005

Okay, it’s nothing special compared to those of you who are married 6 years and 60 years but it’s a mark set in stone at the time of 6 months for us. We’ve been married for 6 months now but we’ve only been TOGETHER for 9 days and what keeps us going is knowing that we’ll be together again soon.

Things have been really tough but we’re holding on. After 6 years of knowing each other we tied the knot. Of those 6 years we were on the phone for 3 years, dated for 1.5 years and engaged for 1.5 years. Since I joined the service we’ve been apart for a total of 25 months.

My phone bill has totaled more than $6,000 since I’ve been to Japan. I simply stopped counting after that. I love talking to my wife and she loves talking to me, but we also talk so much because that is almost all we have – each others’ voice. Yeah, we still use web cams to see each other, we send emails to each other everyday, we write letters and cards but it’s just not the same as being there. And if you’re about to suggest using the computer microphone, let’s just say she uses a Mac and it’s not compatible for some odd reason (honey, please don’t hurt me for making fun of your Mac again, I’m sorry – I love you!)

Because of the time and distance apart I’ve written songs for her and sang them to her. One I wrote recently (unfinished) is “I remember“:

I remember… the days we use to hold hands;
Walked around and making plans.
I remember… the times we use to just kiss;
Rolled about and making love.
I remember… the ways you use to tease me;
Always tryin’ make me pleased.
Now we’re half way around the world,
But we’re just a blink away.
So close your eyes and think of me,
Reach on out and hold my hands,
Tilt your head and feel my kiss,
Make a sound and hear my name.
You know it’s still the same.

Once you get to know me, you’ll see that all I talk about is business and my wife. They’re the two things I’m most passionate about in my life. Now if you ask me which one I choose, I would of course choose my wife because without her I can’t be successful anyway. She makes me happy and proud. That’s why all my websites, forum membership and et cetera has a picture of US. I love being with her. She makes me feel amazing – not just a man, but an incredible one that could accomplish anything so long as I have her by my side.

-Happy Anniversary, Ashley – I love you.
