Every night before putting my daughter to sleep, I change her and play with her. I would unbutton her onesies, pull them up over her face and let it sit on her head like a hat. Her face would light up like it’s the funniest thing ever. It’s great enough to see that. I then tickle her sides by rubbing my lips on her sides really fast. She’ll then giggle. I then pretend to give her a massage with a chopping motion on her chest and tummy. She’ll start busting out laughing.
Finally, I look at her and say “dada! daaaa-dah!” I was trying to get her to say that for a few nights. Well, last night, I placed her on the changing table and as I reached for a clean diaper (not saying a word yet) she calls out “dada!” My wife heard it and she asked,”did she just?” – “Yep!” Her first word at 6 months and 5 days! When she said “daddy” plain as day at 3 weeks (wife was there for that one too), I couldn’t count it because it was too early. This time, it’s going on the record books!
Hehe, after that we play “fly on the wall!” It’s a game of holding her up against the wall. She loves it because the upper half of our wall is slanted and it’s a perfect position for her. She’s a real bundle of joy.
