Podcast downloads are a wonderful new online way to share files. A podcast is a way to send files from a distributor’s online site directly to the subscribers computer, where they can view them whenever they wish. A podcast works by having a small file called an RSS file placed somewhere on the podcaster’s web page. This RSS file is updated regularily, usually automatically with text and links to new media files available for downloading. The RSS file is thenaccessed by the podcast client of the subscriber’s computer. A podcast client is a small program that goes online to look for the RSS files that the feed subscribers wish to view. There are many podcast clients available for every conceivable need, and most are free to download and use.The podcast download will be done when the podcast client downloads and views the file from the feed’s website. After finding the links to the media files embedded in the RSS file, it will download those files and store them on the computer, allowing the user to view them whenever and as many times as they wish. The podcast files may be of many things. There are comedy shows done by people who enjoy creating and writing a regular show, but aren’t able to do it as a business. Some podcasts are music mixes, an mp3 file that subscribers can play. Even some radio shows are getting into podcasting, allowing subscribers to download portions of their shows from the internet in podcast form and play them on their home computer.

Podcast downloads could conceiveably be applied to any type of file. The RSS files that allow the mainly audio and video files now used in podcasting to be downloaded can be customized to enclose almost any type of file. This has led some analysts to believe that podcasting could eventually be used to distribute software updates, demonstration programs, and many other types of files, moving beyond the simple use of podcasting to share media files. All that would be neccessary would be for the users to subscribe to the feed with their podcast client. They could then stay regularily updated for nearly anything.

Podcast downloads offer many different possibilities for distribution of files across the internet. Because it is a different mode of using the internet, allowing the data to come to the user rather than the user having to visit each site they enjoy, podcasting has the possibility of changing the way the internet works. Content can be given directly to the individual, easily and ever more quickly as broadband use spreads. This means that what the internet is will change drastically. The web changes from something connected to in order to be used to something that is integrated and connected with our personal life.

Alright, so I was going to Alexa just to check the “Movers and Shakers” chart. Well, mainly because I just realized that Google is now #1. I remembered Yahoo! being #1 on Alexa for the longest time. I wonder when it happened. Anyway, I looked to the right of the screen and there was an ad about someone making “$63/Hr Part-Time!” Yeah, I was curious to see what she was doing.

So here’s the ad that I saw:

Okay, yeah, I also looked because it’s my home town, Grand Prairie, Texas. I was wanting to see how folks in my neighborhood are making money and maybe we could meet up some time.

Anyway, this is the page I came to (daily-job-news.com):

Noticed that I underlined my city, Grand Prairie. I thought to myself, “I bet you this isn’t even real”. I decided to view-source and see the page properties.

Here is what I found:

The web page is claiming that “Mary Steadman” is from Grand Prairie and is making so and so much money. However, how can it be true, when the city name is simply a javascript that displays the city name based on your IP address? So Mary Steadman could be from Chicago, Denver, Sacramento, New York, Okinawa and anywhere else in the world. Either way, that alone tells me that it’s a straight up scam.

It’s not strategy, it’s lying. Stay far, far away from this one folks. You don’t have to take my word for it, just do a search online.

So the next time you see a program/site that claims someone is from a particular city or whatever and is making a lot of money, this is a DEAD give away whether it’s legitimate or a scam. Good luck!

It is recommended to use the keywords you want to be found for in the page titles itself. This title tag is different from a Meta tag, but it’s worth considering it in relation to them.

Whatever text you place in the title tag (between the <title> and </title> portions) will appear in the title bar of browsers when they view the web page. Some browsers also append whatever you put in the title tag by adding their own name, as for example Microsoft’s Internet Explorer or OPERA.

The actual text you use in the title tag is one of the most important factors in how a search engine may decide to rank your web page, because it’s the first thing people see when searching for a keyword phrase. All major web crawlers will use the text of your title tag as the text they use for the title of your page in your listings.

It is recommended that you do not exceed 60 characters when writing out a title for your page. However, we have seen titles that have as much as 63 characters still display properly on Google’s listings.

If you have designed your website as a series of websites or linked pages and not just a single Home Page, you must bear in mind that each page of your website must be optimized for the search engine. That means, whatever keyword phrase mentioned in your title, must be mentioned in the description. And whatever was in the description must be in the page’s content.

The unique combination of these words and phrases and content will draw customers using different search engine terms and techniques, so be sure you capture all the keywords and phrases you need for each product, service or information page.

The most common mistake made by small business owners when they first design their website is to place their business name or firm name in every title of every page. Unless your company name IS a keyword term, it is best to leave it at the end of the title or even not mention it at all. Most of your prospective customers do not bother to know the name of your firm until after they have looked at your site and decided it is worth bookmarking or working with.

So, while you want your business name in the title of the home page, it is probably a waste of valuable keywords and space to put it in the title line of every page on your site; especially, if you cannot fit it. Why not consider putting keywords in the title so that your page will display closer to the top of the search engine listing?

However, if you do intend on using your business name, you can separate it with a dash (-), a pipe (|) or even colons (::::) to separate your business name and then the page title itself.

Try to avoid unnecessary words like “and” or “or”. You can simply using the ampersand or forward slash. The keyword terms will still be picked up by the search engines.

A lot of folks out there believe that there is a secret number of times you should mention a keyword phrase in order to rank well in the SERPS.

Here’s the thing though, search engines have evolved and are much smarter now. They don’t need you to mention the same keyword phrase a specific number of times to “get it” and index it. You need to concentrate on RELEVANT keywords as well.

If you want to do it right, here are a few tips:

Include your keyword phrase in the page title, description, H1 tag and as many time as you NEED to mention it.

Add the page text summary (or introduction) in the very beginning of the web page mentioning your key phrase.

Use only grammatically correct phrases. If your keyword was “Dallas Pizza” you could write out a sentence such as “Dallas has the best pizza.” The two words are still picked up by the crawlers.

Add the page text outline (or introduction) in the start of the Internet page discussing your key phrase.

Confirm your page is “scannable” the visitor will straight away get a concept what it is about ( add bold fonts, lists and news).

And yes, you need to use your key phrase ( or related terms ) in reports and bolded text ( so that both folk and bots could quickly associate the page with them ).
