Now, these aren’t just a bunch of simple keywords, these are keywords that receive hundreds and thousands of searches every month. Now, you’ll probably see companies that say they rank #1 for this and that but no one really searches for them.

For example, if we were going to cheat and lie to you, we’d tell you that we’re ranking #1 for these keywords:

Sounds impressive though, right? I mean, these keywords LOOKS as if people would be searching for them, but according to Google, less than 10 people search for any of these keywords every month. Can you believe that? We could use these as a selling point and claiming that we’re ranking #1 (of course we are), but there’s no one searching for these keywords. At least not enough to be profitable and strut about.

These are not easy keywords to go after, but after just 2 months, this is where Texas SEO stands. We are ranking very well for our own market, which most people would think is very competitive and saturated with veteran seo companies who have been doing it well over a decade.

So when people ask whether or not we are an Internet marketing search engine specialist (or expert), we would have to proudly say, “yes”.

We’ll probably be on page 1 for all of these keywors within the next 60 days. In that time, we will be ranking for far greater and more difficult keywords that could bring in an additional 50,000 to 100,000 searches a month.

There’s many ways of getting traffic to your website, but since my site is about search engine optimization and marketing, it’s only fair to talk about increasing traffic through the use of the Internet. Back then, all we knew was to submit our site to the search engines and that was it. There software to submit our site to hundreds and thousands of them. Now we know better. Now we know we don’t even have to submit our site and we’ll still get indexed… if done properly.

Major search engines use programs called crawlers or robots to index websites to list on their search result pages. They follow links to a page, reads the content of the page and record it in their own database, pulling up the listing as people search for it.

If you want to make your site indexed easily, you should avoid using frames on your website. Frames are like a black hole that search engines simply cannot read. There are many sites that are many years old with hundreds of pages but Google shows that they only have ONE page indexed. That’s because they used frames. Please avoid it like the plague. In fact, avoid it like it’s the Ebola Virus (what a terrible way to die!).

We love to see flash sites, but don’t ever have a flash-only website. Always have an alternative to it because search engines simply cannot read nor index flash files. By having an “HTML” version of it, you are increasing your ability to be indexed by the search engines.

Do not present important information in Flash movies or in images. When using images, ALWAYS use the “alt” tag to describe what the image is. It is also imperative to also name your files according to what is on the image. I.E. If the image is of a black dining table, you’ll want to name the file “black-dining-table.jpg” instead of “image45.jpg”.

Search engine robots can only read text on your source code so if you present important words in Flash movies and images rather than textual form, your search engine ranking will be affected dramatically.

Stop using improper HTML tags like <font> to style your pages. Use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) instead because they are more effective and efficient. By using CSS, you can eliminate redundant HTML tags and make your pages much lighter and faster to load.

Finally, for today’s tips, please avoid using navigation text that changes sizes upon a mouse-over. It is very tacky and annoying. Okay, this wasn’t search engine related, just a user-friendly advice.

This is a small but essential check-list:

1. H1 tag should be present on each page: heading is an integral part of any page.
2. The H1 title should be catchy, concise, descriptive and short.
3. H1 tag should the first header tag in the source code: so that people, search bots and screen readers immediately understand what the page is going to be about.
4. H1 tag should be unique from page to page: H1 tag is another effective way to avoid internal duplicate content. Keep it focused and unique from page to page.
5. H1 tag should contain the page target keywords: i.e. put your key terms in the most prominent (textual) part of the page.
6. There should be only one H1 element per page. A frequent mistake on blogs is to use H1 tags for each post title on the home page. In fact, the post title should wrapped in H1 tags only on the post page.
7. H1 element shouldn’t be linked: the top-level heading on the page – the only way to link it is to link to that same page – and no page should link to itself.

In addition to this, you’ll want to use your H2, H3 and so on through the page.
