There are people out there who have 20,000, 60,000 and even 80,000 followers, but that’s nothing to be impressed about. There’s just way too many programs out there that can grow your Twitter followership overnight on autopilot. So why do people feel so overwhelmed and impressed by these folks is beyond me?

The size of a person’s follower list does NOT determine their authority, credibility nor expertise of anything. I’ve seen self-proclaimed experts give suggestions that simply defy the rules or flat out don’t make sense. Why they are still so convincing, I don’t know.

I can understand using this tactic for niche marketing and the such, but to use it for your primary business, it’s really not anything that I have any respect for. I mean, now-a-days it’s like all Twitter is good for is to market to each other rather than stay in touch with friends or family. I think we’ve lost grasp of that and have become a greedy bunch of people who simply want to promote and make money off of others.

I will continue to grow my Twitter account organically and constantly removing people who’s updates are 90%+ promotion. I want to meet and interact with REAL people, not a robot. If I wanted to play with a robot, I’d go buy one.
