That’s right, Kevin Lam and Howard Berg, the world’s undisputed, fastest reader, met at Spring Creek in Dallas, Texas. In fact, the Guinness Book declared Howard as “The Fastest Reader in the World” in 1990. In the media, Howard is noted for his ability to comprehend and remember what he reads, even at 25,000 words per minute.

The man is a machine!

“On Cleveland’s Morning Exchange, Howard completed an 1100 page book and scored a perfect score on recall. He was retested three years later on the same book from the previous show again with perfect recall.

“Dick Cavett had Berg memorize his autobiography in 90 seconds where demonstrated perfect recall.”

“On Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, Berg memorized a 200 page book, “Going to the Movies,” by Quentin Crisp, and scored 100% on the extensive test given by the author.”

Still can’t believe it.

Well, I had the pleasure of not only meeting my idol from when I was in high school, but we may very well go into business together, too!

We discussed a possible partnership and even manage his product launch, which is a much more updated version of his Mega Reading Program from the 90′s that sold millions of copies.

I will be going over to his home in McKinney next week and discuss the arrangements and how to launch this thing since I have a lot of experience with copywriting and product launches. If things go well with this, Howard can finally retire.

I’m also currently consulting for Norvax‘s new health insurance marketing and coaching program. The person I’m coaching and consulting for was able to save $6,000 just from an hour of my time. I’m sure their launch is going to be quite amazing.

I was only 16.

I purchased his product through Kevin Trudeau’s infomercial program back in the late 90′s (I was 16), but boy did I learn to read fast. In fact, after I went through his course I didn’t even study any more! My studying was my speed reading and comprehension.

No, I’m no where close to how good Howard is, but it was certainly good enough to make A’s without trying. I was also at the top of my class while in the military due to going through his program. So his product REALLY works. It was great to finally meet him in person. I never even knew he lived so close (just 45 minutes away).

Watch Howard on the Cuvuto’s “Your World” show:

Alright, so I woke up this morning to respond to a bunch of clients about their website, their sales copy, their marketing and so on. Pretty normal Monday morning I guess . I mean, one marketing prospect finally responded after a week, but was very excited to talk to us. One client had exciting news that he’s getting all sorts of JVs and we are on our way to generating over $300,000 in sales. I really want to be over $500,000 and possibly even double that.

Townview High School

Can you tell I’m ambitious?

Yes, I’m what you call an over-achiever.

You give me something to do, I do more than what you’d expect. It’s not to brag or show off, but it’s just my personality – the way I am.

And if you had asked me if I expected to do anything I am doing now 10 years ago when I was in the 10th grade, I would have told you that you are crazy. I could never have imagined that I’d be invited to speak at high schools, talking to clients and companies who’s net earnings are in the millions. That’s just insane.

But I’m doing it.

I’m doing it every day of my life now. I’m now getting attention from “gurus” who I use to buy products from and I know they will contact me later after the launch of my current client: StupidSimpleSystem.com

I can’t wait to open the flood gates and see if I can get it to convert at over 5%. If we hit our goal of a certain number of visitors and convert at 5%, we can easily hit $1,000,000 in sales. Alright, there’s my crazy update for Monday morning.

Oh, I almost forgot. I was invited to speak at the School of Science and Engineering at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center in Dallas, Texas. Never been there, hehe, but it sounds cool. They’re 2nd in the nation for science education. Pretty awesome stuff.

Alright, time to get some water and get back to work.

Sincerely,
Kevin Lam

The Dallas Millionaires “Meetup” group met today for the very first time. The organizer, Kevin Lam, presented in front of approximately 35 individuals about becoming an SEO expert in just 60 minutes. It was a huge undertaking, but he delivered a lot of powerful tips not only on SEO, but for business and life.

This was an event that was not recorded on video and may go down in history as one of the lost archives. Today was also Kevin’s first time speaking in public. Despite his soft voice in the noisy atmosphere, he spoke loudly with confidence.

One of the members said, “Thanks again. You sure fooled me. I would have never guessed that today was your first public presentation. You came across as a seasoned speaker.”

One thing that stood out the most was when Kevin had everyone raise their hand only to slap themselves. It wasn’t out of disrespect, but to wake them up. We can’t divulge on what it was about because it is members only. You’ll have to be at his future meetups or ask him directly.

Kevin hopes to have a good turn out on the next meetup, which will be on August 26th. The topic for that day will be about hiring your own marketing firm, without the actual costs.

Do we consider ourselves as “Internet marketing search engine specialists?” Absolutely! We are ranking very well for keywords that other SEO and marketing companies have been trying to achieve and maintain for years. Some of our competing companies have been in business for as long as 12 and 15 years and yet we are catching up or even passing them on certain keyword phrases.

Now, these aren’t just a bunch of simple keywords, these are keywords that receive hundreds and thousands of searches every month. Now, you’ll probably see companies that say they rank #1 for this and that but no one really searches for them.

For example, if we were going to cheat and lie to you, we’d tell you that we’re ranking #1 for these keywords:

marketing firm texas

texas marketing firm

texas seo firm

gibberish in seo

dallas offline marketing

dallas seo marketing

Sounds impressive though, right? I mean, these keywords LOOKS as if people would be searching for them, but according to Google, less than 10 people search for any of these keywords every month. Can you believe that? We could use these as a selling point and claiming that we’re ranking #1 (of course we are), but there’s no one searching for these keywords. At least not enough to be profitable and strut about.

Kevin Lam has nearly a decade of Internet marketing experience and is now applying his knowledge and expertise in the search engine marketing field. Kevin and his team at rankaboveothers.com has been active for ONLY about 2 months and here are some of the keywords we are ranking for on page 1:

texas seo | #1 & 2 | 1,900 searches a month | 1,020,000 competing pages

dallas texas marketing | #2 | 2,400 searches a month | 50,200,000 competing pages

dallas seo | #8 | 4,400 searches a month | 712,000 competing pages

seo dallas | #8 | 6,600 searches a month | 2,060,000 competing pages

texas search engine marketing | #7 | 1,900 searches a month | 22,900,000 competing pages

texas search engine optimization | #6 | 480 searches a month | 1,340,000 competing pages

dallas seo firm | #2 | 210 searches a month | 638,000 competing pages

Other more difficult keywords we are close to being on page one:

dallas marketing | #15 | 40,500 searches a month | 27,600,000 competing pages

texas marketing | #12 | 27,100 searches a month | 49,700,000 competing pages

dallas marketing firm | #15 | 1, 600 searches a month | 27,900,000 competing pages

dallas search engine optimization | #18 | 1,600 searches a month | 668,000 competing pages

dallas search engine marketing | #15, 16 | 2,900 searches a month | 7,260,000 competing pages

dallas marketing firms | #15 | 880 searches a month | 14,100,000 competing pages

This is a potential of over 60,000 searches a month.

These are not easy keywords to go after, but after just 2 months, this is where Texas SEO stands. We are ranking very well for our own market, which most people would think is very competitive and saturated with veteran seo companies who have been doing it well over a decade.

So when people ask whether or not we are an Internet marketing search engine specialist (or expert), we would have to proudly say, “yes”.

We’ll probably be on page 1 for all of these keywors within the next 60 days. In that time, we will be ranking for far greater and more difficult keywords that could bring in an additional 50,000 to 100,000 searches a month.

Texas alone gets over 280,000 performed searches every month for search engine optimization and Internet marketing companies/firms. At rankaboveothers.com, they don’t try to rank for every single keyword there is and waste their time and money on keywords that would take forever to rank for. There is a time to fight and a time to just play it smart.

Texas SEO, a Dallas SEO marketing firm, applies the same principles for their clients by helping them rank for keywords they can rank for quickly to bring immediate traffic. The more difficult keywords are targeted, but not concentrated on as heavily. As time goes on and the client’s website(s) improves in PR, indexed pages, backlinks and so on, they then put more effort into the more difficult keyword.

The reason for this principle is that each website must be established and credible before it can go too heavy on a keyword or set of keywords. Moving too quickly can bring on suspicion. It’s like seeing a guy barely able to bench 100 pounds, but then benches over 300 pounds a week later. Not natural!

Let’s just put it this way, if Google thinks you’re cheating – you’re cheating!

As Texas SEO builds up their clients’ authority and Internet presence, they prepare them for the Big Texas SEO Promotional Package, which is an all-in-one search engine marketing service that entails over 200 hours of marketing services performed by professional search engine experts. Texas SEO wants to be the best search engine marketing company there is in Texas… or at least in Dallas, Texas.

It might seem like a stretch, but only a couple of months since their site went live, they are already on the first page of Google for many keywords some companies have spent years to get to. They don’t just claim to help businesses and entrepreneurs increase their business, revenue and positions in the SERPs, they put their money where their mouth is and ranked for keywords within our own market.

Even though rankaboveothers.com is a Texas-based company, it doesn’t mean that they accept clients from Texas only. Their Dallas SEO marketing firm has already provided services to satisfied customers throughout the United States including California, Minnesota, New Jersey and Virginia.

For the first time in… probably 10 years, I picked up the AT&T Yellow Pages book yesterday. The book had been sitting there since October of 2008 and I haven’t even opened it up yet. I’ll be honest, I tore it open because I was actually searching for clients to contact.

I was astounded by what I found within the massive book:

This was printed in 2007… why is it still referencing 1999? 1999, just when the Internet started to take off. 1999, just when the Y2K was about to destroy the world and we’re all over the Internet trying to figure out what’s going on. 1999, when 83 million adults were accessing the Internet and spending an average of 12.1 hours per week.

Reference: Media Awareness

Now, compare 1999 to 2008 when there’s over 220 million people using the Internet. That’s 72.5% of the entire United States’ population.

Reference: Internet World Stats

So why on earth, is at&t still referencing studies and statistics that is practically stone age? I mean, if more and more people are using the Yellow Pages, why aren’t there any new and updated information about such statistics? “Hmmmmn”, right?

So, honestly, are yellow pages print ads still effective or are yellow pages ineffective now?

Here’s another page I found in their book:

In my opinion (Kevin Lam, here), the statistics are a bit misleading.

In 1999, “66% of consumers reference the White Pages an average of 3.2 times per week.”

In 2005, “78% of consumers reference the White Pages an average of 2.5 times per week.”

Since I cannot find out how many “consumers” they actually used in their research (irrelevant in my point anyway), you know what this means to me? People who bought something through the White Pages had to have looked at the paper weight an average 130 times per year.

Now, I’m no Sherlock Holmes, but a little common sense tells me that this just doesn’t add up. Seriously, who needs to reference the White Pages THAT many times a week and per year?

Even if there are people doing that, just how many people could possibly be doing that? These statistics are absurd.

That’s not even my point though. I love the way it’s worded. The statistics are based on consumers ONLY, not the general public, which is what really matters for any business. Do you know how many doorsteps these books get dropped on and then just go straight to the trash or left on the porch until it is recycled? Too many to count.

I’ve walked down my street asking my neighbors for the phone books and every single one of them throw them out. Even a couple who are in their 70′s. I figured they’d be one of the people that would frequent it considering their age and exposure to it, but I was totally wrong. They hadn’t even looked in one for more than 3 years!

Here’s another good reference to read:

2005 Metered Ad Study

On page 6, you’ll see that the average annual calls for local display and ad space dropped from 885 to 784 between 1999 and 2004. That’s a drop of 11%. Not much… but that’s 2004! It’s 2009, folks! 5 years later when the calls are still declining and costs are increasing!

For the sake of argument, let’s just say each call had an average cost of $10. That means, it had to have cost $8,850 to advertise in 1999. Without the consideration of inflation, the cost per call is now $11.28. Doesn’t seem like much, but to reach the same 885 phone calls, that’s an additional $1,140.11.

Keep in mind that no where have we even begun to discuss conversions and sales value.

Are Yellow Pages Print Advertising Cost Effective?

So I ask you, how effective really is the Yellow Pages? Does spending upwards of $25,000 into a book that no one really looks at actually help increase your business?

I read a recent report by Blue Corona who conducted their own performance tracking to determine how well the Yellow Pages was doing. They soon realized that business had declined drastically while costs have skyrocketed. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? What kind of “business” is that? Might as well just give money out to charity!

Needless to say, after the results the client company refused to do business with them again unless the listing was free.

Reference: Blue Corona

Of course, this isn’t based on the at&t Yellow Pages (well, kind of since at&t bought Verizon’s yellow pages service), but it is a close indication of how their print advertising is performing. If you’re still using it, it’s best that you have a tracking system setup and determine whether it’s still worth your time and money. Not only that, I recommend you step into the new millennium (although it has already been 9 freak’n years!) and use Internet marketing to increase your business.

A lot of folks out there believe that there is a secret number of times you should mention a keyword phrase in order to rank well in the SERPS.

Here’s the thing though, search engines have evolved and are much smarter now. They don’t need you to mention the same keyword phrase a specific number of times to “get it” and index it. You need to concentrate on RELEVANT keywords as well.

If you want to do it right, here are a few tips:

Include your keyword phrase in the page title, description, H1 tag and as many time as you NEED to mention it.

Add the page text summary (or introduction) in the very beginning of the web page mentioning your key phrase.

Use only grammatically correct phrases. If your keyword was “Dallas Pizza” you could write out a sentence such as “Dallas has the best pizza.” The two words are still picked up by the crawlers.

Add the page text outline (or introduction) in the start of the Internet page discussing your key phrase.

Confirm your page is “scannable” the visitor will straight away get a concept what it is about ( add bold fonts, lists and news).

And yes, you need to use your key phrase ( or related terms ) in reports and bolded text ( so that both folk and bots could quickly associate the page with them ).

Today’s article is a bit short but still of great value.

Search engine optimization isn’t about optimizing for the search engines, it’s about optimizing for the user – the ones that will be buying from you. You will often hear from us that a user-friendly website will do way better than a site that is hard to read and hard to navigate.

This is because search engines only care about what their users get when doing a search. If a user is unhappy with a result because of irrelevancy, then they’re not doing their job.

Here are a few examples of what you should be doing to be user-friendly:

Use a simple navigation menu that can be easily seen. We recommend the menu be placed at the top or right column.

Be natural. Write naturally and freely without concentrating on specific keywords.

Be relevant. Try to give each page a particular “theme” or “topic”. If your page is about “glass cleaners” try to talk about “glass cleaners” AND related items. Don’t stray off about “shoes” or “skiing”.

Be professional. This includes the layout of your site, the design and exactly what the page is about. You want people to be able to easily read what’s on your page. Don’t use colors that clash or too close in color that they blend in.

I went home this Christmas for 10 days to be with my wife and the family. I spent as much time as I could with her. We got to see each other every morning when we woke up and every night when we went to sleep. Of course I’d be up watching t.v. or a movie after she falls asleep. She tries her best to stay up and watch with me but she’s usually out in less than 5 minutes.

Our first night out in town.

On the second night, I took her out to the Reunion Tower and ate at the Antares Restaurant. The restaurant is located a few hundred feet above the ground and rotates in a circular path. We would get a full 360 degree view of everything outside in approximately every 45 minutes.

Before getting there, I was joking around saying that we should leave an hour early so we can spare half an hour to get lost. Ironically, we did. We got lost for exactly half an hour and then finally made it just 5 minutes before our reservation. Because it is winter time, 6PM just isn’t early enough to see the sun set. Heck, they don’t even open ’til then anyway.

The meal had cost us about $100. Not too shabby for such a nice place. I had the sea bass while she had some Thai something shrimp. I can’t remember the name. It was really hard to pronounce. They were both delicious though. I recommend if you ever stop by Dallas, Texas to go on up there. It’s the tower with the ball at the top.

I am now looking toward 2007. One of the biggest year of my life.

I will soon be launching FAN, returning to the States for good, permanently be with my wife, start on my secret project, meeting people at seminars and even speaking on stage and I’ll probably more than likely have a baby. We both really want one. Especially after seeing our nephew, Sean. He’s just so cute you want to hold on to him forever.

Sure I might have my plate full and I’m trying to take on too many things. But that’s just who I am. The way I see it, the bigger my goals and dreams, the more I get out of it.

Some people are afraid to set their goals really high.

I’m not because even if I don’t meet that goal, I would have at least gotten close and achieve more than I started out with. I went from no list, to a list of over 2,000. I went from 2 forum members (me and my wife) to over 650 members. I went from ground floor to making a few extra thousand dollars. while I was at sea for 7 months this year.

Out of it, I got my Plane Captain qualifications, which allows me to launch, recover and maintain an F-18 Hornet. I’ve gone to Thailand, Singapore, Korea, Guam, Northern Japan and Australia. I also advanced to Petty Officer third class. I’ve received letter of appreciations and commendations for my work performance. I’ve also gotten two outstanding performance awards on my PFA (Physical Fitness Assessment).

I’m already dreaming up my life for 2007.

I can see myself buying back my military contract so I could live my life with my family. I see my business reaching out to millions of people all across the world. I can see myself driving the car of my dream, which is a Porsche 911 GT2. Although it may not be practical for everyday use, it sure will be a lot of fun on the weekends!

On the contrary, I see myself in an SUV taking my wife to the hospital to deliver our baby. I don’t know it yet, but I have a feeling she’s pregnant. *crossing fingers* cjnmcjnfjkj ajjn lak kfld n… okay, it’s hard to type like that, but you get the point.

I don’t consider myself an Internet marketing junkie.

But I do consider myself an Internet marketing fanatic. I love to do it and work with people who do it. I love to come up with new ways to drive more traffic to my website and keeping them there. I love to help others grasp the same concept and apply it themselves.

It’s no danger or harm to myself for helping others. I feel happy helping people. It’s my nature. It’s just me.

I’m seriously excited about FairAdsNetwork.com.

Looking over it’s capabilities, I know it will do more than give Google AdSense/AdWords and YPN a run for their money. We’ll even run away with their money – legitimately and legally. We’ll win the hearts of millions and convince them that their PPC and keyword relevancy venture days are over. It’s just way too costly to the advertiser and way too little for the publishers to profit.

Networker’s Debut will also soon get a face lift for the new year.

I will be including a few additions for the new year. First up is a whole new newsletter system. I’m tired of using another server where I am limited to doing what I want the way I want it.

I’ll also be adding a news publishing system to help reflect the key objective of Networker’s Debut, which is to get you the latest and up-to-date news on Internet marketing.

Last, but not least important, is a traffic tracker that will allow me to see how many hits I really am getting, what country they are coming from, what time of day, what type of browser they are using, how long were they on my site and so much more. I want to use this data and analyze it to determine the best ways to keep the visitors coming and staying.

All great things start out as an idea.

I mentioned something about a secret project I’ll be working on soon. Can I give you a hint?

It has to do with ebooks, but it’s NOT an ebook. It will be free for all, but it’s not a classifieds site. Anyone can join, as long as they speak and understand English. It will be consisted of a huge community, but it’s not a forum. It’s been done before, but not ANYTHING like this. My product line will be unlimited, but it won’t be me producing them.

At this point, you’re wondering what the heck I’m talking about… uhh, I can’t tell ya. You’ll just have to stay tuned and find out. I’ll tell you this though. The idea was sparked after reading a book called “The Long Tail” written by Chris Anderson, who is the editor in chief at Wired Magazine.

The secret project will be using the Long Tail Theory and combine the concept of Amazon and Wikipedia all in one. Like I said, 2007 is going to be a really big year and I can’t wait to see the things we accomplish together.
